With one Faction Rally and Iron Banner under their belts, Bungie has started to reveal more information about the “Seasons” of Destiny 2 at the company’s panel during Twitch Con.
The first thing that the panelists talked about was how the development has officially been given over to the Live Team who will be handling Destiny 2 for the rest of its lifespan. They moved on and reviewed what we had already seen in this season. If you’ve been playing, you’ll know we have already gone through the first Faction Rally with Dead Orbit coming out on top, and Lord Saladin came to the tower for the inaugural Iron Banner. But, this is not the last time we will see these events in the first season. The developers revealed that before the second season begins, we will see a second Iron Banner and Faction Rally. Each event will include new equipment that they showed off in new concept art for each faction. Additionally, there will be new weapons offered as a reward for the winning faction.
As far as Iron Banner goes, the panelists reiterated that the team is listening to players’ feedback on every aspect of the game, and will be reworking the loot system. Starting in season 2, you will be able to purchase any piece of armor or weapon that you would like in exchange for Iron Banner tokens AND legendary shards. Among other announcements, season 2 will also feature the return of Destiny’s winter themed event: The Dawning, which will also feature new armor.
This time around, you will be able to play Ice Hockey with other guardians in the Tower as well as have snowball fights. They teased that The Farm is the better location for snowball fights as there are snow forts and such. They did not reveal when The Dawning will be running but, they did say that it will be in season 2, so it would be safe to assume season 2 starts in December.
Finally, the panelists revealed what will happen to Clans as the seasons progress. If you are already in a clan, the clan level will be reset upon the start of the next season. Along with a reset clan level, each level will give different bonuses than the previous season. And alongside clan bonuses being different, Bright Engrams will feature new ships, sparrows, Ghost shells, and emotes each season.
Aside from news about seasons, the panelists stated that Bungie will be hosting some streams in November, and be revealing the first expansion that will be out toward the end of the year. There was no word on a Power level increase, but it will most likely be with the first expansion. No dates were given for the second Faction Rally or Iron Banner, but they are likely to come soon.
