This year is Final Fantasy 30th anniversary and we’ll find out just how big a celebration it will be at the Anniversary event this upcoming Tuesday. In the meantime, one thing has just been announced that will be part of the celebration – a live action drama series centered around Final Fantasy XIV.

Based on a real-life story, “Final Fantasy XIV: Father of Light” will focus on an estranged father and son learning to communicate with each other after the former gets a PS4 and joins the MMO. It will air in Japan on MBS/TBS this April and will feature Yudai Chiba and Ren Oosugi as the leads.

If this is a sign of things to come, 2017 is going to be a strange year for Final Fantasy fans! We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
